Message From The President

Mark Barash, PMP

President

Hello PMI New Jersey Chapter members and friends!

It’s July and PMINJ goes onto the summer schedule! I hope you will have a great summer ahead!

We do have a few activities in July for you. Firstly we have a Career Networking LCI virtual session on July 10th for you on how to get through automated Applicant Tracking Systems to humans during your job search.

Worthwhile to check it out!

We have two special events for those of us who are passionate about fighting food insecurity in New Jersey. July 19 is the Hands of Hope day of service in Edison, NJ. It is a well run food pantry operation with lots of enthusiastic volunteers.

Exhausting and exhilarating and a great way to do something great with other PMINJ and community members! Sign up thru Meetup.

On August 1, we have the America’s Grow a Row , where we help to harvest crops that go to NJ’s needy families.

Looking ahead to October 4, we are part of a statewide program coordinated with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, with events all over the state. Look to sign up to support one of the many sites! From Pennsauken to Hillside!

We have revamped and simplified our Project of the Year; Project Professional of the Year & Program Excellence Award. Get yourself and your organizations recognized for accomplishments of individuals and teams, and PMINJ will honor our winners and give recognition for project and program accomplishments. Deadline is July 31. See our website!

There will be Board Meet & Greet events most weekends in July and August. Be sure to sign up and enjoy a light meal with a Board member and several other fellow members, to network in a relaxed casual experience! I have one set up and several other Board members will as well.

Please also go to our Diversity Equity and Inclusion page to see information about the July celebrations and recognitions.

As always, please think of Volunteering with PMINJ to be a part of all we do! It’s great how much better we do when we have your contributions.

Just go to the bottom of the home page, and click on Volunteer, and let us know how you would like to engage!

On behalf of the PMINJ Board, wishing you a great summer with good health, good fun, and much success! We hope to see you soon!

Wherever you are... we are there with you!"

Women IT Leaders Take Center Stage

Judy Balaban

Cultivating visibility can help all professionals achieve greater success, but it’s a particularly important task for women who remain underrepresented in tech.
Judy Balaban has seen firsthand how stepping into the professional spotlight, even on a small stage, pays dividends.

Early in her career as a program management specialist at AT&T, Balaban became an active member with the Project Management Institute’s New Jersey chapter, which put her front and center at plenty of events.
